Abstract

Meiotic studies were performed on seven populations of Phalaris minor from Haryana and adjoining Shiwalik Hills. All the presently worked out populations are tetraploid (2n=28) with X-7. The meiotic course in all the populations is found to be abnormal with few quadrivalents, besides normal bivalents, stickiness in chromosomes, presence of secondary association of Some bivalents, non-synchronous separation of some bivalents at Metaphase-l, cytomixis, presence of bridges and laggards during anaphases and telophases, etc. in spite of normal microsporogenesis, high incidence of pollen sterility is found in different populations.
