Abstract

The severe depletion of water can be compensated through the bioremediation of wastewater. In this study an attempt has been made to remediate the dairy wastewater through the activity of locally available earthworms. All the physicochemical parameters are significantly changed on passage of wastewater through gut of earthworm. By 30 days the pH, TDS, TSS, BOD, COD, Fluoride, Chloride, Phosphate and Nitrate reduced by 7.2, 46, 88.3, 62.9, 51.4, 59, 66.2 and 60.9 %, respectively when passed through vermibed.
