Abstract

Squid jigger is a fishing gear used by fishermen to catch squid (Loligo sp.) in Karimunjawa, Jepara, Central Java. Squid jigger has long been known and operated using light aids for fishing efficiency. The addition of LED lights to the fishing gear that is installed between the bait and the swivel has the opportunity to increase catches and time efficiency. The use of LED lights aims to imitate or resemble real conditions in nature because there are certain types of fish that can emit their own light to communicate or to find food. The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of adding LED lights to squid fishing gear on catches and effectiveness catching tool. The research method used is the experimental fishing method with 2 test variables, namely the use of blue and green LED lights with 16 repetitions. The results obtained were that the addition of LED lights had a significant effect on the catch of squid fishing gear with blue LED lights being the most effective in fishing operations and getting the fastest response from the target fish, which was 43 minutes after setting.
