Abstract

The goal of this study was to see how zinc (Zn) and copper (Cu) affected the hepatic, kidneys, and muscles of Channa punctatus. Fish samples (60) (average wet body weight of all fish was 460.77 ± 6.22 g) were taken from the freshwater reservoir Bhaghar Lake. Atomic absorbance was used to determine the heavy metals. In an aquarium, model mixtures were made, and fish were fed with that. The results of this study demonstrated metal bioaccumulation. Heavy metal concentrations were beyond the World Health Organization's recommended tolerable limits. Congestion, dilatation of the bowman capsule space, and necrosis were found on histopathological analysis of the kidney. Cytoplasmic vacuolation, necrosis, and sinusoid dilatation were seen in the fish's liver. It has been determined that this lake is significantly contaminated as a result of agrochemicals and untreated domestic sewage discharged from adjacent villages and cities, and that there is an urgent need to manage this growing contamination.
